Take That Religion!

Religion is no longer the opiate of the masses, but as you can see by this article, “The Opiates of the Middle Classes” by Nassim Taleb, faith still seems to be the problem at the heart of man.

If you can call faith a problem. I think his points are pretty dead-on. We’re conditioned to listen to people who make more money than we do and we’re conditioned to believe that they’re worth paying exhorbitant amounts of money to do whatever the hell they do. Before Valentine’s day, The Office had an episode where Michael sucked up to the labor of the office in order to try and win them over as friends. He remarked that they do more work and should get paid more. However, that fell through when the executive from the corporate office came down and threatened everyone with the closing of the branch.

Having an MBA doesn’t make you a better person. Wearing a white-collar doesn’t make you worth more to society. Hard work should come with appropriate rewards across the board. The rich oppress the poor and less-fortunate than themselves. This is wrong.

Between your posts and mine, we’re really starting to sound like a couple marxists.

Viva la Labor! The Gods smile on the hard worker, working not just for himself, but for his comrads, for his motherland!

Somewhere Mitch Jackson is either laughing his ass off or crying bitterly :)

When the people’s glorious revolution comes, we’ll be on the front lines, toiling for the good of the state! We will set examples for our comrades! It will be Utopia!

Sez the guy who has the math problem Josh + Mercedes = Bliss. Heh.

  4. Josh says:

But the promise of blissful living is how the bourgeois keeps us under his thumb! I know he’s trying to manipulate me, and I struggle with it. I feel the conflict inside me just as every worker feels the conflict inside him or her. Do we choose freedom or do we allow ourselves to become slaves to the man? Slaves to the empty promises of comfort. Slaves to the empty promises of envying our neighbors. Slaves to the empty promises of materialism.

    freedom from what??

  6. Josh says:

    Oppression, bitch!

Now now boys, play nice, the Motherland wouldn’t want you fighting…
