Schneier on "Security vs. Privacy"

Bruce Schneier has written a good post about the ideological issue of pitting privacy against security.  I’m a fan of Bruce’s work, and this is no exception.  It’s well thought-out, and offers a good analysis of the sad state of … Continue reading

Internet Explorer’s Version Kerfuffle

Via A List Apart, Microsoft made an announcement regarding Internet Explorer 8′s new meta element support.  In a nutshell, a properly defined meta element in the document’s head now tells IE (or any browser foolish enough to implement it) to … Continue reading

Namaste

Today I started yoga. Very interesting time. Our instructor was 9 months pregnant and still quite a bit more limber than I am. I suppose a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. We exercised for over … Continue reading

The SuperBowl is Set!

Wow. Today’s NFL Championship games were good! Ever since their 2001 post season I’ve been following the Patriots, and I’m ecstatic to see their 18-0 record going to the SuperBowl with today’s win over the San Diego Chargers. Their game … Continue reading

License for Secure Programmers?

Bill de hÓra makes an interesting point regarding Reg Braithwaite’s doctors (and engineers) versus software developers.  I think our industry needs some form of accrediting in order to do some forms of development (think medical records or banking).  While I … Continue reading

Symbolic Links in Subversion

My work SVN repository is taking a while to update (see here for details).  So I’ll just write a bit about the latest neat feature I’ve been benefiting from in Subversion: svn:externals. The idea is an old one: link to … Continue reading

Mixing Case Sensitivity Sucks

At work we use SVN for our SCM needs.  SVN is free, open source, and works well enough for my current needs (though I’m really, really interested in getting into a decentralized SCM one of these days). Subversion is also … Continue reading

Trying out Windows Live Writer

Today I’m trying out Windows Live Writer as a means to publish my blog.  So far I’m not too happy with it: it failed to use WordPress’ Atom Publishing Protocol implementation to do its dirty work. Also, it defaults to … Continue reading

Review of Meat Heads of Bloomington

Meat Heads

Food style/ethnicity: American hamburgers

Price: 7.00 – 10.00 (USD)

Location:

Food rating: 4 out of 5
Decor rating: 4 out of 5
Service rating: 3 out of 5

Only burgers.

Well, burgers and fries.

Only burgers and fries. And beverages. Burgers, fries, and beverages. That’s the fare of Meat Heads.

It’s a nice change of pace from the overwhelming number of offerings of other restaurants. Clean and simple.

Friday night I had dinner at Meat Heads. I ordered a burger and fries with a drink.

As far as burgers go this was a decent one. It’s a double patty and you get a slew of choices of what to put on it. I ordered everything (minus onions). In my opinion, when someone orders “everything” that should mean “everything we don’t charge extra for” but apparently not at Meat Heads. You see, they offer more interesting and exotic toppings than other burger joints: red peppers, sautéed mushrooms, and the like. I wanted those things on my burger. They were not there.

The decor was nice though; covered in photos of Bloomington the restaurant screams out “I’m a townie!” Other than that, it looks rather inspired by Old Navy, or whomever inspired that store, with it’s simple decor and lighting.

Service wasn’t bad (except for the order botching). They seem to have about 10 people working Jimmy John’s style for each burger. Not a bad concept but it definitely costs more to get a burger and fries when I’m paying 10 people instead of 4. Seriously, 8 dollars is what I spent to try the place out; not worth it.

If you’re hungry for a burger and you live in Bloomington/Normal, go to Bocata Gyros or Big Mouth. I’ll write about them both later.
