Me wantee

Posted in photos, technology at 3:45 pm by Josh Peters

Yahoo! research is now offering some software they call ZoneTag. This software is almost enough to make me go out and purchase a camera phone. Essentially, it tags your photo automagically for you for your Flickr account. I think the geotagging of information is an amazingly cool idea that should pretty much ubiquitous. One of the reasons I’ve not tagged much is that the interface for doing so sucks right now (the other being I take really shaky photos with my current camera that aren’t worth showing off too much). ZoneTag fixes the first problem by integrating GPS (or at least cell-phone triangulation) with the camera phone.

I’d love to keep track of where I took my favorite photos and be able to provide a list to a child or friend of mine so that they could experience the world in my footsteps. That sounds really self-centered, but it would be such a cool way to keep track of the changing world. “Grandpa took this photo right here 50 years ago and look how times have changed. I sure miss him now that he lives on the moon.”

A math problem

Me + A Mercedes SLR = bliss.
dare to dream indeed
Enjoy. If I get enough time and the right angled photo, I’d like to lift the car and put in on a quite blurred highway, with maybe a cop car chasing me in the extreme distance.

Update: I’d like to say that this post is the real post #200. Hooray!

Beautiful China!

Check out China!

These photos really are beautiful. The colors, the sky, the fog. I can’t believe it’s real. Things like this lead me to believe that I’m really missing out on the beauty all around me.

Ticketmaster Infringement

A Flickr customer was ripped off by Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster has removed the photo from its website, but it’s amazing to me to see just how large corporations try and get away with stuff like this. I’d bet that if the tables were turned Ticketmaster would be siccing the dogs on this guy and try to squeeze all of his money out of him just to “make a statement.”

MS Research releases Group Shot for photo groups

Posted in photos, technology at 12:43 pm by Josh Peters

Scoble posts about MS Research’s recent release of a group photo tool called Group Shot.

After watching last night’s Scrubs I think it’s eerily coincidental that there’s a new photo helper to make your group photos better. I hope it’s as good at group photos as Photoshop’s new composite image making tool: that thing makes stitching photos together actually fun and if MS can make group photos better and more fun that’s a good thing in my book.

I can’t wait to see what it does to two images that look nothing alike, it could give rise to some interesting works.
